It always feels such a wrench when summer is over – all those lovely long days, still light after 10 pm, warmth, the swallows and countless other birds and animals busying themselves around the garden…

This year, autumn seems to have started early but I can’t help but love the smells, the changing colours and the promise of fires in the evenings, chestnuts to collect from the nearby woods, the long morning shadows and the misty early start to the days, often evaporating to crisp, clear air and blue sky…. Perhaps it’s because September is the month of my birth, but I just love it ♥
